The Director,
An Introduction

Erick Gibson is an award-winning photojournalist, a stills photographer, cinematographer, and creative producer. After graduating college magna cum laude with a B.A. in photography, Erick immediately began a professional photography career that now encompasses 23 years of experience. After working as a commercial and advertising photographer during early years, Erick changed gears and pursued a different path taking a position as a newspaper photojournalist. Soon after, Erick would pivot once again, shifting to a full-time freelance career.

The wide range of specialties accrued working across multiple genres in his early career provided Erick with a diverse portfolio and skill set. Equally comfortable shooting in studio or on-location, Erick’s portfolio includes reportage photojournalism, portrait, product, lifestyle, travel, and fashion photography.

Never easily content, Erick began doing freelance videography in 2005. Before he graduated college with a degree in photography, Erick was originally a film student, so motion pictures was really the return to this previous, closely related passion. In addition to his professional stills photography career, Erick currently works in digital cinema as a Director of Photography and as a creative producer for marketing videos, commercial photography, documentaries, and independent fiction films.

Erick is an image maker infused with the energy of Rock n’ Roll, the discipline of skateboarder, and a longing for adventure. He is inspired by the power of cinema, fine art, and the ability for these mediums to tell stories and to communicate beyond the boundaries of spoken and written language.

When not developing his own photography or filmmaking projects, Erick likes to skateboard, rock climb, and surf. He is an insatiable travel fiend, citizen journalist, existential soldier, and journeyman for justice.

"If a life filled with sights and sounds,
places and people, culture and experiences,
meaning and creativity, is to be
my only reward, so be it.
Witness the richness of life.

Get Social. Be Heard.

The ever-smiling Saori at her Okonomiyaki(?) job. Cross process’d Fuji film. Takushoku Uni exchange student days. Diff world it was.

いつも笑顔のSaoriさん、お好み焼き屋(?)での仕事中。富士フイルム(Provia 100FかVelvia)のクロス現像。拓殖大学留学時代。懐かしい。別の世界みたいだ。
